Darlene Keeper (she/they/their) is Anishinaabeg from Little Grand Rapids First Nation in Treaty 5 Territory (Northeast Manitoba). Darlene is a dynamic individual passionate about stewarding the earth and safeguarding Indigenous culture. A dedicated social and legal scholar, they advocate for Indigenous autonomy, Aboriginal treaty rights and Aboriginal title. They earned their Social Work degree from the University of Manitoba and are now a third-year law student at the University of Victoria, specializing in Environmental Law and sustainability. Beyond their professional aspirations, they also cherish activities such as playing volleyball—both indoor and beach—reading, writing, and exploring. They find joy in nature, whether camping, enjoying bonfires, or simply soaking in its beauty. Deeply rooted in their culture, they practice ceremony daily, nurturing their spiritual connection. Their multifaceted interests reflect a harmonious balance of personal growth, cultural pride, and a commitment to making a meaningful impact in their community.
