Black Youth Justice Program
Emily Barker is currently a first-year J.D candidate at the University of Ottawa. She is also the VP of Academic Affairs with UOttawa's Black Law Students' Association. Emily completed her undergraduate studies in Criminology and Criminal Justice with a concentration in law at Carleton University. She also found her passion for mentoring and empowering youth there, co-founding Umoja Black Community Engagement Program and working in Ottawa high schools to encourage African, Caribbean and Black students to attend post-secondary institutions. In her spare time, Emily likes to paint, read, and attend concerts.
