Gurkamal is a 3L at Thompson Rivers University (TRU), and she is eager to establish her legal career in Toronto. She has a strong passion for human rights and access to justice work, and her academic and professional experience reflect this. She is the Co-President of the TRU Human Rights Law Club and VP Marketing of the TRU Access to Justice Club. Gurkamal has worked as a Summer Student at the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, Student Clinician at the TRU Community Legal Clinic, and Legal Research and Strategy Assistant at the Canadian Association of Elizabeth Fry Societies.
