Position Summary

Facilitators are key members of the IYOP team, working directly with Indigenous youth to deliver engaging, culturally responsive, and empowering legal education programming. • Create a safe and inclusive space for youth to participate, learn, and express themselves.

  • Facilitate activities such as mock trials, legal literacy games, and restorative justice circles.

  • Collaborate with justice system professionals (judges, lawyers, court staff) to coordinate guest visits and courthouse components.

  • Adapt materials and delivery to meet the literacy and learning needs of each youth group.

  • Support evaluation by gathering feedback and reflecting on each session’s successes and challenges.

  • Attend training and debrief sessions led by Level Justice to ensure consistent and informed program delivery.

  • Experience working with youth, particularly Indigenous youth, in an educational or community setting.

  • Strong facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of or interest in the Canadian legal system, Indigenous justice, and/or restorative practices.

  • Commitment to cultural humility and equity-based approaches.

  • Lived experience as an Indigenous person is considered a strong asset.

  • Availability to travel locally for workshops.

Compensation

Facilitators are paid $30/h per lesson delivered, up to $90. This includes 2 hours of preparation time and 1 hour of lesson delivery. The Facilitator is responsible for transportation and arriving on time for each lesson.

We strongly encourage applications from individuals who identify as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit. Priority will be given to those with lived experience or a demonstrated commitment to working with Indigenous communities.
