SUDINE RILEY

Black Youth Justice Program Manager

 

Sudine Riley is a Criminal Defense Lawyer and educator with experience practicing law in both Jamaica and Canada. She brings her passion for justice, advocacy, and youth empowerment to her role as Program Manager with the BYJP program.

Sudine began her career in Jamaica, where she worked as both a lawyer and a high school teacher, combining legal advocacy with mentorship and education. After moving to Canada, she built a strong record as a Criminal Defense Lawyer, standing up for fairness and protecting the rights of her clients in the courtroom.

Her work inside and outside of the courtroom reflects a deep commitment to equity and community. Through past volunteer roles with organizations such as The 519 and the Black Coalition for AIDS Prevention, Sudine has helped newcomers, youth, and marginalized communities understand their rights and access the resources they need.

Sudine holds an LLB from the University of London, an LLM in Canadian Common Law from Osgoode Hall Law School, and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Philosophy from the University of the West Indies. She is also a Barrister and Solicitor with the Law Society of Ontario.

Sudine is dedicated to ensuring that Black youth are not only aware of their legal rights but also feel empowered to use their voices, make informed decisions, and shape their futures with confidence.
