BLSA’s Pre-Law Expo 2026 Welcome Table
On Sunday, September 27th, Level Justice was invited to attend the Black Law Students Association’s (BLSA’s) 2026 Pre-Law Expo. Held at the University of Toronto’s Jackman Law Building, the Pre-Law Expo was a gathering of Black high school and undergraduate students interested in pursuing legal careers. Level Justice was in attendance representing the Black Youth Justice Program (BYJP), a justice education and mentorship program for Black youth aged 11 to 18 years.
BLSA Canada is a national student-run organization, established in 1991, that is committed to supporting and enhancing academic and professional opportunities for Black law students. Their mandates are mentorship, community, experience, and support – all which are vital to their goal of advocating for Canada’s next generation of Black lawyers.
The Pre-Law Expo is a space for aspiring law students to gain meaningful insight into the law school experience and the legal profession. The Expo brings together undergraduate students, current law students, admissions representatives, and practicing lawyers to foster mentorship, guidance, and community. Attendants gain valuable knowledge about the law school admissions process, the chance to network with a supportive community, and opportunities to hear directly from those who have successfully navigated the path to law school. The Expo featured interactive networking sessions, panels about how to succeed in the legal field, information on application tricks and tips, and mentorship from older law students. The Expo created an environment where future law students felt informed and inspired.

Level Justice was honored to support BLSA in this important initiative. Level staff was in attendance to interact with students, to inform them about actionable steps to support a future legal career, and to provide further information about the Black Youth Justice Program. Attendants were enthusiastic to hear about the BYJP, remarking that it provided a wonderful opportunity for law school hopefuls to get experiential legal knowledge before the application process.
In the 2025-2026 school year, BYJP was delivered to over 200 students across Canada, resulting in a 230% increase as compared to the year prior. The program was delivered across 4 cities and 3 provinces, a testament to the national demand and need for such programming. BYJP’s impact has also been formally recognized by the Canadian Law Awards as an Excellence Awardee for the Diversity Initiative of the Year category last year.
Level Justice is proud to boast BLSA Canada as a national partner in support of the Black Youth Justice Program. The partnership allows BLSA Canada to share its expertise which reflects local context and the needs of Black youh nationally. To further Level’s cause, BLSA Canada continues to facilitates the involvement of their members, executives, and its local chapters as program facilitators and volunteers within BYJP as well as to advise and support expansion of the BYJP across Canada.
